A founding activity for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the Home Visit is a time for Vincentian voluneers to visit the homes of neighbors in need, identify their needs, and explore ways to help.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vincentians across the United States have pivoted their Home Visits to continue their service to neighbors in need while maintaining the safety and well-being of Vincentians and those we serve. Whether via telephone calls, Zoom meetings, or socially distanced gatherings, Vincentians have found ways to continue their good work.
The economic hardship caused by the pandemic has made the Society’s work more important than ever. Requests for help with emergency financial assistance such as utilities, rent, food, medications, and clothing have grown significantly, and we expect the need to continue growing for years.
Now, more than ever, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul serves our neighbors in need, inspired by the gospel and Jesus Christ our savior.
Our founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam was known to say, “No form of charity is foreign to the Society.” We do whatever it takes to lift individuals and families out of poverty, even in a pandemic.
